What Is Salt Therapy?

Salt Room; Salt Therapy

So you've probably heard all the buzz about the salt craze that has hit the country, but what even is Salt Therapy? Is it really salt? Isn't salt bad for you? Do those salt lamp things actually do anything? Does Salt Therapy really work, or is it all in your head? Why is that pink salt so pretty and why do I want to put it in every room of my house? These were all questions Anita and I had after being introduced to Halotherapy (Salt Therapy). We weren't even sure if we could find a lot of research on it but we did....an overwhelming amount!

What even is Salt Therapy? Salt Therapy, or Halotherapy as it is called, is a type of alternative medicine that uses (you guessed it) salt. Numerous forms of Halotherapy have been known and used for thousands of years in Europe. Salt Therapy is a non-invasive, non-medical, side effect free therapy.

Salt Therapy; Salt Lamps;

What exactly does it do and does it really work? Salt therapy does a multitude of things for the human body. As you enter into the Salt Room pharmaceutical grade salt is blown in by dry air. That salt enters the lungs, respiratory system and sinus cavities. It can do wonders for allergy suffers and those with sinus problems. It is just a good for people with asthma and COPD. Himalayan salt is also antibacterial and anti-microbial so breathing it is good for people with immune issues and those who are prone to sickness. Himalayan salt is also anti-inflammatory making it wonderful for people with arthritis, MS, fibromyalgia, or muscle and joint aches and pains.

So while processed white table salt may not be the best thing for the diet, Himalayan Salt is completely different and is actually very good for you. Despite what some may think, a person's blood pressure will not go up during Salt Therapy. This is because the salt is entering your lungs and not your digestive tract. But Himalayan salt is better to eat than white salt too. With 84 trace minerals, this amazing pink salt gives us a lot of minerals that the body craves.

Speaking of 84 trace minerals, lets talk a little about what this salt can do for skin. For people with eczema, psoriasis or other skin conditions, Himalayan salt can be magical. Because of all the minerals and it's anti-bacterial properties, this salt usually helps with most skin issues, including acne! Thus, leaving skin soft, exfoliated and clean.

Salt Therapy really does work wonders for our bodies and our brains (thanks to all the negative ions it releases). It is a treatment people usually need to experience to become a believer. And we are so thrilled to be able to offer this amazing healing power to our community.
